Health-care systems loose between 3% and 8% of their expenditures to fraud.
According to Jim Gee, director general of the EU Healthcare Fraud and Corruption Network:
There are four main areas of fraud in healthcare:
fraud by patients;
fraud by clinical professionals (often claiming for work they haven’t done);
fraud by managers and staff misusing their position or authority; and
fraud by companies and contractors supplying goods and services, and a major area
here is the pricing of drugs.
